8th January..... Voles.

I hitched a lift with one of my farming friends today as he was going to collect a few hay bales from his hay field. All this wet weather hasn't been to kind to them, but the Voles aren't complaining, with a family being present under each bale, running for cover along the exposed runways as the bale is removed. It was noticeable that the Voles had vacated the bales at the foot of the valley, where only their runways remained, presumably they moved up to higher ground due to all this wet weather.

As soon as a bale was lifted the Voles either scarpered along the channels or buried their heads thinking they were some how invisable.
