2nd February..... Urban Egret.

Keeping the River theme of the last couple of weekends going, we walked the upper stretches of the Chess this morning, where the undoubted high light was this confiding street wise Little Egret. Last winter when driving past I'd noticed an Egret walking along the roadside kerb close to this spot, so I'm assuming it's the same bird. Encountered a total of eight Little Egrets, with five sat together in one tree, five Herons also in a neighbouring tree.
Other noteworthy sightings included 20 Tufted Duck, Cormorant, Kestrel, Great Spotted Woodpecker & a Red Kite which continually returned to the same spot on The Moor once it was disturbed, where four junior football matches had been taking place earlier, must had found a tasty morsel that had been dropped.
23 Species seen.
